L’Aéroport-jardin d’atterissage > Wagon Landscaping, 2020
The Aéroport-jardin d’atterrisage is an umbelliferous garden designed as an insect aerodrome. Thanks to its collection of plants, it represents an ideal landing and take-off runway for insects of all kind. And a place of observation of choice for walkers. Everyone can take a seat on the terraces and seats that line the collections of umbelliferae to watch the insects take flight or enjoy the view of the heap of Calonne-Ricouart. Umbelliferae are plants that are particularly active in the first horizons of the ground, with their mainly pivoting roots, and offer a show, at variable heights, of flowers in “umbels”. The Aéroport-jardin d’atterrissage is thus a garden which speaks of the activity of a basement and of its spectacle on the surface. He interprets the richness of the soil by the very character of the plants that he uses and thus echoes the human history of working the soil, which also, by extraction of the places (after activities), participated in the reconquest of the fauna and flora : a form of anthropic nature.
