Île était une fois invites you on a poetic stroll through the world of a shipwrecked explorer. Memories of her interrupted journey, a stranded boat open to visitors…The benches, installed on the deck under the hop-covered pergola, invite you to meet and observe. In front of the bow, the furrows dug by the treasure hunter form a sea of dunes leading to her woven willow hut, and a shelter covered with climbing plants combines with the flexible stillness of the wicker the slow movement of the living plant. The choice of materials and the mixture of species allows the work to evolve according to climatic variations. The presence of many edibles invites you to pick an reflect on the nutritional function of the plant world; natural persepctives open up to both physical and interior journey, plunging the visitor into the marvelous universe of a naturalistic adventure. Inspired by the myth of Persephone, the goddess of the underground world associated with the cycle of the seasons, this island stroll challenges the visitor to the world of the living, death and seasonality, impermanence and rebirth. The treasure to be discovered among the shelters, flowers and fruits is that of the culture of life, of the alliance and dependence of man on nature, of the fabulous potential of the seeds, a handful of seeds being by essence a virtual garden.
